Glasgow Airport Terror Attack

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) - Two men rammed a flaming sport utility vehicle into the main terminal of Glasgow airport Saturday, crashing into the glass doors at the entrance and sparking a fire, witnesses said. Police said two suspects were arrested.

The airport, Scotland's largest, was evacuated and all flights were suspended, a day after British police thwarted a plot to bomb central London, discovering two cars abandoned with loads of gasoline, gas canisters and nails.

"One has to conclude ... these are linked," Dame Pauline Neville-Jones, former head of Britain's joint intelligence committee, told Sky News. "this is a very young government, and we may yet see further attacks."

Britain's prime minister, Gordon Brown, who took office only Wednesday, was being briefed on developments by his officials, Downing Street said.

In Glasgow, the green SUV barreled toward the building at full speed shortly after 3 p.m., hitting security barriers before crashing into the glass doors and exploding, witnesses said. Two men jumped out of the burning vehicle, one of them engulfed in flames, they said.

"The car came speeding past at about 30 mph. It was approaching the building quickly," said Scott Leeson, who was nearby at the time. "Then the driver swerved the car around so he could ram straight in to the door. He must have been trying to smash straight through."

Two men were arrested, Strathclyde Police spokeswoman Lisa O'Neil said.

Passengers fled running and screaming from the busy terminal, Margaret Hughes told the British Broadcasting Corp. "There was black smoke gushing out where the car had obviously been driven into the airport," she said.

Flames and black smoke rose from the vehicle outside the main entrance. Police said it was unclear if anyone was injured. Other passengers were stranded, with at least one airplane grounded on the runway, the BBC said.

The incident also comes exactly one week before the second anniversary of the July 7 bombings that killed 52 people.

Leeson said bollards - security posts outside the entrance - stopped the driver from barreling into the bustling terminal at Glasgow's airport.
Leeson said only the nose of the vehicle made it inside the building. Richard Grey told the BBC that the vehicle was lodged into the center of the terminal's main entrance.

"He's trying to get through the main door frame but the bollards have stopped him from going through. If he'd got through, he'd have killed hundreds, obviously."

"The jeep is completely on fire and it exploded not long after. It exploded at the entrance to the terminal, it may have been an explosion of petrol in the tank because it was not a massive explosion." witness Stephen Clarkson told the BBC.

Two men - one of them engulfed in flames - were in the SUV, witnesses told BBC News executive Helen Boaden, who was at the airport at time. She described the men as South Asian.

Clarkson described him as a large South Asian man. "His whole body was on fire.... He was just talking gibberish," he told the BBC.

"An Asian guy had been pulled out of the car by two police officers he was trying to fight off and they'd got him on the floor." Grey told the BBC.

Boaden said police "wrestled him to the ground - the fire was burning through his clothes - and finally put him out with a fire extinguisher."

Lesson said an airport officials did not think the incident was an accident.

"He said the men in the car got out and started throwing petrol about - that must be how it caught fire," he said.

Another witness, Fiona Tracey, described a "bang" coming from the SUV. The vehicle was on fire and "every now and again there was a bang coming off it. ... There was definitely a bang" she told Sky News television.

Grey said the car did not explode. "There were a few pops and bangs that seemed to be the tires and the petrol."

Police Brute Force

Lately i have been focusing on Police, and street fights. Representing mainly police victims, or even police heroes.
However today i want to focus on another view of being a police:

BRUTE FORCE

A Police has to represent law thus keeping citizens safe, however he must never use aggression where not needed.

Arkansas cop violently arresting, choking and wrestled skateboarding teenagers to the ground. A litle too harsh ?
Wait till the choking part, which could fall under police brutality.

Maltese Police Sergeant brutally hits an 'old' (50) French woman in paceville, due to mild Resistance. I'd say that we maltese arent so different from them americans then.

What do you think ?
Is Police Brutatilty Right or Wrong ?
Keep in mind that both Cops had to struggle for their own safety.

Live Car Accident.

Caution: Might shock some viewers

The video was recorded in Taiwan. Amazingly the victim is still alive and suffered from minor injuries.

Elephant man

A Chinese man known as the "Elephant Man" in his local province is about to get surgery to have a 33-pound tumor removed from his face.

Doctors said it may be the most extreme case of this type of facial tumor seen in the world. The 31-year-old man has suffered from the tumor since birth. Left untreated, it has grown to more than 30 pounds. The weight of carrying the tumor on his face has deformed the man's backbone, stunted his growth and left him in physical and emotional pain.
A team of doctors will try to remove the tumor. However, the surgery isn't without risk. Ultrasounds have revealed several large blood vessels that may hemorrhage and cause the patient to bleed to death during the operation. Despite the risks, doctors said they are optimistic they can remove the giant tumor and reconstruct the man's face.

Cop hit by unmarked Police Car

A Denver police officer who was trying to chase and capture a robbery and carjacking suspect on foot is recuperating from his injuries after both he and the suspect were struck by an unmarked police car.

The events began at about 4:30 p.m. when the First United Bank at 5901 East Colfax was robbed. Witnesses from the bank followed the suspect to a home. Witnesses said the suspect broke into the house and committed a carjacking, Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

As he fled with the stolen car, he almost hit an officer in pursuit, Jackson said. He drove down Colfax Avenue and about two blocks away he struck a van and was stopped at the intersection, police said.

A uniformed officer, with his gun drawn, tried to pull the bank robbery suspect out of the maroon sedan to arrest him but the suspect ran. The officer chased him on foot.

The pair ran through an intersection and ran about a half-block when a blue unmarked police car, with its lights flashing, slammed into both the suspect and the officer. The suspect flipped off the hood and fell on the pavement. The officer was struck in the knee and was limping away from the scene.

The officer and the suspect both eventually got up and did not appear to be badly hurt.

The officer was taken to Denver Health with a what appeared to be leg or knee injuries. Jackson said his injuries were minor. The suspect has been taken into custody.

What the hell was that other Boltneck (police driver) thinking?
"Yeah, I guess I'll drive in to them both, that sounds good."

Last Moments Of Officer Mckay (US police)

The last moments of a police officer's life after being shot several times in the back and then runover by the suspects car, all this started from was just an expired license, but Ligo Kenny had other ideas, and Officer McKay paid the full price.

Some people asked:
So what happened to the suspect ?
The bystander picked up the cop's gun and told the shooter to drop his weapon. When he didn't, the bystander shot and killed the shooter.

[EDIT]

Clearly the officer didn't follow the correct arresting procedures in that case. In USA one must assume that just about everyone is holdstering a gun. Hence, when stopping anybody, one has to get ready to draw his own arm. Especially if the accused is someone who tried to get away.. It's sad to loose a police officer but I agree his lack of professionalism basically cost him his life.

This is the case where the killer, Liko Kenny, is the cousin of professional skier, Bode Miller. One might assume that this wasn't random due to the fact that there was bad blood between the Officer Mckay and Liko Kenny. Kenny was convicted for assaulting Mckay in 2003; breaking his jaw. There was a buidling tension between the two, and McKay had an agreement with the Deputy Police Chief that if he ever pulled over Kenny again, he could call for another officer to be present. Some local resident say the cop had a history of harrassement with Kenny after the 2003 incident.
Reading comments from friends and family, it sounds like both the cop, and the Kenny, contributed to the feud. Some people are saying the cop was something of a bully, who harrassed certain young people, while members of the killer's own family describe him as having an anger problem, and very defiant of authority. I also sounds like he started carrying the gun specifically because he was very afraid of Officer McKay.

First Hitman movie trailer to hit the web

The very first teaser trailer for the forthcoming Hitman movie has sneaked onto the internet - having watched it, I don't reckon Timothy Olyphant is very convincing as Agent 47, but I suppose it is only a teaser...

Details the movie's plot revealed that the contract killer becomes embroiled in a political takeover and gets set up, resulting in him being pursued by the Russian military and Interpol.

The film is due out this autumn.

Israeli Army of Cyber-Soldiers Target Our Right to Know

http://representativepress.blogspot.c...

The Israeli government's Foreign Ministry is involved in efforts to influence public opinion on the Internet. Israel's Foreign Ministry orders Internet propagandists, so called "trainee diplomats," to skew online polls and public forums to conform with the Israeli line.

Those who want to suppress the facts have dishonestly contacted YouTube and claimed that the video "If Americans Knew What Israel Is Doing!" was a Terms of Use Violation. The video is clearly NOT a Terms of Use violation.

U.S. support of Israel puts America at risk and it is immoral and unjust. If Americans knew what Israel was actually doing they would not support it in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Mainstream Media, the 9/11 Commission Report, politicians and pundits have all downplayed and/or omitted the fact that the main motive for the 9/11 attacks was outrage over U.S. support of Israel. Here is a rare exception to the suppression, it comes from The Forward:
http://representativepress.blogspot.c...

The fact is from November 1947 to May 1948 the Zionists were already on the offensive and had already attacked Arabs. In the months before Israel was declared, the Zionists had driven 300,000 non-Jews off their land. In the months before Israel was declared, the Zionists had seized land beyond the proposed Jewish State.

Tesla Coil Symphony

By changing the frequency of the electricity spark within a tesla coil and modulating it, one can make it symphonize.

This is a solid-state Tesla coil. The primary runs at its resonant frequency in the 41 KHz range, and is modulated from the control unit in order to generate the tones you hear.

Justo explain a little further, yes, it is the actual high voltage sparks that are making the noise.

Every cycle of the music is a burst of sparks at 41 KHz, triggered by digital circuitry at the end of a "long" piece of fiber optics.

What's not immediately obvious in this video is how loud this is. Many people were covering their ears, dogs were barking. In the sections where the crowd is cheering and the coils is starting and stopping, you can hear the the crowd is drowned out by the coil when it's firing.

This Tesla coil was built and is owned by Steve Ward. Steve is a EE student at U of I Urbana-Champaign. He and Jeff have been going to Teslathons, which is where they met.

It's been suggested that a good name for this coil would be the "Zeusaphone". "Thoremin" has also been mentioned, though personally I think we need Theramin type inputs for that.

Someone yelled "Play Freebird!" after the first round of music.

Spanish police pinch cell phone hacker

He created and distributed malware that infected 115,000 phones

Spanish police have arrested a 28-year-old man and charged him with creating and distributing malware that infected an estimated 115,000 cell phones, the French AFP news service reported yesterday 24th June.

The unidentified defendant, who was arrested in Valencia after a seven-month investigation, allegedly created more than 20 variants of the Cabir and Commwarrior worms, which target mobile phones running the Symbian operating system and infect nearby devices via Bluetooth.

According to Sophos Plc., the man embedded his fiance's name -- Leslie -- in the worms' source code. Rival security company F-Secure, Corp. had previously pegged Cabir's creator as a member of the "29a" hacker crew, and said his handle was "ValleZ." Commwarrior's author, however, was thought to be a Russian who went by the nickname "Eldod0r."

Ron O'Brien, a senior security analyst at Sophos, classified the worm as "proof-of-concept, if you will. They're out to prove that cell phones are not secure, that Bluetooth isn't secure." Neither does more than propagate. "They're malicious only in the eye of the beholder," said O'Brien.

Commwarrior spreads via MMS (multimedia messaging service) by sending a message to other devices within Bluetooth range. If the recipient accepts the incoming message -- which poses as a new game, ring tone, driver, or even Symbian update -- his or her phone is infected.

Although most security vendors have predicted an increase in mobile malware, those forecasts have not panned out. "There isn't a common operating system," said O'Brien in explaining the low threat level posed by cell phone viruses and worms. "Phones are not like PCs in that they don't have a universal operating system. That makes [mobile] worms a much harder sell to hackers."

Doctors: Video Games Not an Addiction (for now)

Physicians have been debating whether video game addiction can be lumped together with other addictions such as drugs, smoking and alcoholism. The AMA's delegates are to vote on the matter later this week but the committee that made the proposal has already backed away from the idea.

As previously reported, the American Medical Association (AMA) had been looking into whether or not video games can actually be considered an addiction. However, according to a Reuters report over the weekend, doctors have now backed away from their proposal to classify video game addiction with real substance problems such as alcoholism.

At the AMA's annual meeting, addiction experts said that video game addiction affects about ten percent of players but that more study is needed before the problem could be classified as an actual mental illness.

"There is nothing here to suggest that this is a complex physiological disease state akin to alcoholism or other substance abuse disorders, and it doesn't get to have the word addiction attached to it," said Dr. Stuart Gitlow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York.

"It's not necessarily a cause-and-effect type issue. There may be certain kids who have a compulsive component to what they are doing," Dr. Louis Kraus of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and a psychiatrist at Rush University Medical Center told Reuters.

Still Dr. Kraus is concerned about the possible social implications of too much video game playing. "The more time kids spend on video games, the less time they will have socializing, the less time they will have with their families, the less time they will have exercising," he said. "They can make up academic deficits, but they can't make up the social ones."

Some physicians remain convinced, however, that video game addiction and other serious addictions are very similar. "Working with this problem is no different than working with alcoholic patients. The same denial, the same rationalization, the same inability to give it up," commented Dr. Thomas Allen of the Osler Medical Center in Towson, Maryland.

While the debate rages, the AMA committee will consider the testimony and make its final recommendation to the AMA's 555 voting delegates, who are scheduled to vote later this week.

That said, the committee that made the proposal immediately backed away from its position, and instead passed the torch to the American Psychiatric Association should they wish to revise their next diagnostic manual in 2012.
